Ted Corday began his daytime career at a director at Guiding Light in the 1940's. During the 1950's, Corday directed both radio and TV episodes of GL. Corday also directed episodes of As the World Turns from the series premiere in 1956 until 1965. In 1965, Corday signed an agreement with NBC to create three new daytime dramas. Paradise Bay and Morning Star premiered in September 1965 and Days of our Lives premiered on November 8, 1965. Corday co-created DAYS with Allan Chase, Irna Phillips and his wife Betty Corday. Paradise Bay and Morning Star when both cancelled after less than a year. Corday also served as executive producer of DAYS until his death at age 58 of cancer on July 23, 1966.

Corday married Betty Corday in 1941. They had two children: Christopher (b. 1948) and Ken Corday (b. 1950).
