Rachel Ames' daytime career began in 1964 when she joined General Hospital as Audrey March. Ames would play Audrey until 2007 when she retired from the show. Ames made a guest appearance in 2009. Ames made guest appearances on Port Charles as Audrey in 1997 and 1998. Ames returned to GH in April 2013 for the show's 50th anniversary and a one day return in October 2015.

Ames was married to Barry Cahill from 06/14/1968 until his death on 04/09/2012 and they shared one child: Christine (12/31/1970). Ames was also married to John B. Genung and they had one child: Susan.
