Peter Bergman's career in daytime began in 1980 when he was cast as Cliff Warner on All My Children. In 1987, Bergman left AMC but returned for a short stint in 1988. Bergman joined The Young and the Restless in 1989 taking over the role of Jack Abbott.

Bergman has been married to Mariellen since 1985. They share two children: Connor and Clare. Bergman was previously married to Christine Ebersole (1979-1980).
