Jill Farren Phelps' daytime career began in 1974 as a production assistant at Guiding Light. Phelps became a music director at General Hospital in 1977 and joined Santa Barbara as music director in 1984. Phelps worked her way up to executive producer on Santa Barbara. Phelps was also executive producer on Guiding Light and One Life to Live before re-joining General Hospital. Phelps was executive producer at GH until January 2012. Phelps went on to produce the Nick at Nite series Hollywood Heights before returning to daytime in October 2012 as executive producer of The Young and the Restless, a position she held until July 2016.
