Jerry Douglas joined daytime in 1982 as John Abbott on The Young and the Restless. Douglas played the role as a series regular until 2006 when John was killed off. Douglas has continued to make recurring appearances on Y&R as a ghost and in 2008 appeared as John look-a-like Alistar Wallingford. Jerry Douglas died on November 9, 2021 at age 88 after a brief illness.

Douglas was married to Kym Bankier from 04/06/1985 until his death in 2021. They have one child together, Hunter. Douglas was previously married to Arlene Martel and they share two children: Avra (b. 10/12/1963) and Jodaman.
