Dena Higley's daytime career began in 1985 when she joined the writing staff of Days of our Lives. Higley was eventually promoted to head writer for five months in 2003 before being demoted back to a script writer. In 2004, Higley left DAYS and joined One Life to Live as the show's head writer. Higley was let go from OLTL in 2007 but made her way back to DAYS as head writer. In 2011, Higley was replaced as head writer by Marlene McPherson and Darrell Ray Thomas Jr.. Higley released a book in 2012 called Momacholic: Crazy Confessions of a Helicopter Parent.
